rooms for hire / the granary....

Once the starting point for the local grain that was destined to be crushed under the weight of the millstones that still mark the lower theatre doors, the Granary has hosted a wide range of professional and amateur exhibitions throughout its many years.

Now predominately used for fairs and exhibitions it is still one of the most hired rooms in the centre, due to its no nonsense layout and easy off the road access. Also its isolated location and old foot and a half thick dry stone walls, high volume is never a problem, so the Granary is also regulary used by local bands to rehearse without worry of waking up the neighbours!

Other events also prove highly popular such as the craft fairs & various types of classes. This large, popular Town Mill room also used to house the now absent Strathaven Tourist Information office.

The Granary is for hire at the rate of just £10.00 per hour.
It is accessible directly from the A71 and has seating and tables available. There is roof mounted electric heating available and 8 evenly spaced power sockets for all your apliances. Please be aware however, there is no directly accessible toilet facility at the moment, though this is one of our many continuing development aims.

Arts and heritage centre affiliated groups can expect up to a 50% reduction on rental rates. Please contact us to learn more about becoming an affiliate.

An online booking request form will be available shortly. If you would like to book the granary or have any questions about letting the room, please email Val Blackwood by clicking here.
